After Andy Reid’s press conference this afternoon, we know that Brian Westbrook will be suited up and playing on Thursday. The answer that we don’t know is exactly how much he will play. I think that it’s a good thing that he will take some live reps against a different defense, but I don’t think you want to see him get 15 or 20 touches and risk aggravating his ankle or knee. I think it’s also important that Shady McCoy get more reps before he’s thrown into a game that counts.
Personally, I’d like to see Westbrook play maybe the first quarter and then take the rest of the night off. In the final game, I’m assuming he’ll sit the whole game. Originally, I didn’t believe he’d see any action in the preseason so getting some live snaps Thursday will be nice for him so that Week One isn’t the first time he plays. I’m sure Marty and Andy will monitor him closely and not overwork him. I’ve heard he looks sharp again so I’m excited to see him get out there and make some cuts, I’m just nervous about injuries. The preseason has been rough for many players and I don’t want to see anymore injuries. I can’t handle it.
How much do you think Westbrook should play Thursday?
