Andy Reid spoke to the media today regarding topics concerning the upcoming preseason matchup with Jacksonville. As we all know, Andy likes to start with injuries. The following players will NOT suit up to play on Thursday:
-Sheldon Brown
-Omar Gaither
-Leonard Weaver
-Shawn Andrews
-Todd Herremans
-Darren Howard
-Charleston Hughes
-Tracy White
-Tony Curtis
New addition Curtis Gatewood will be suited up and ready to play.
Andy said that he has the starters down to play the first three quarters although he made it sound like he may pull some of them before that time is over. Brian Westbrook will be playing with the first team but Andy said theres no promise that he’ll play all three quarters.
On the Michael Vick situation, Andy said that he will play sometime during the first three quarters. Kevin Kolb will play the entire fourth quarter at the quarterback position. I wasn’t sure if Andy was trying to say Donovan would get pulled before the end of the 3rd quarter and Vick would get snaps or if it meant we’d see Vick in a wildcat or other trick formations. Reid said he had no worries of showing off Vick in the wildcat.
This wasn’t mentioned during the press conference but was something I overheard. Apparently the Jaguars will be playing their third preseason game in 11 days on Thursday and will be resting a lot of their starters. This isn’t great for the Eagles if they’re not going to get the best competition possible. If they come out and cruise it may help their confidence but hopefully they stay level headed.
Overall, Andy seemed excited at the press conference and ready to rock for Thursday.
