Eagles sign Alex Smith

After losing Cornelius Ingram for the year, the tight end spot seemed very questionable behind Brent Celek. The Eagles went out and signed Tony Curtis who showed us all what he was capable of last Thursday. However, the Eagles have solidified the position even more today by agreeing to terms with free agent Alex Smith who was beat out for a spot in New England by Benjamin Watson.
Smith is a big body at 6′ 4″ and 260 pounds and is only 27. He adds great depth to the position and can be used as both a blocker and receiver. With his addition, the Eagles have released Curtis. Due to his strong showing against the Jets I don’t think he’ll be looking for work very long.
