Kevin Kolb put up some big passing numbers last week against the Saints but also had some key mistakes that hurt the team. I’m sure he spent a lot of time watching film this week and will make sure not to make these mistakes again. The defense didn’t show that it can hold its own last week so there must be some contribution coming from the offensive side of the ball.
I believe there will be a lot of wildcat integration into the offense again this week to try to take some pressure of Kolb. Michael Vick will be active and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Eagles put it in his hands early to give him the chance to make some plays. If the Chiefs shutdown the wildcat early, I think the Eagles will shy away from it and stick to the more traditional offense.
With one game under his belt, I am expecting a big rebound here from Kolb. I feel that if he is given time to sit back and throw the ball, he can get a lot accomplished. Our receivers needs to run good routes and get open, and if they do I’m confident Kolb can deliver.
Last Sunday was a game Kolb can learn a lot from, but at the same time it is a game that he needs to put behind him. The Saints have come and gone and this is a big game for the Eagles. Sunday will decide whether the Eagles go into their bye week above or below the .500 mark.
