Jeremy Maclin: Not a fluke

Jeremy Maclin had a breakout game on Sunday in only his second start for the Eagles. The rookie wide receiver recorded six receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He was quite impressive, but I think many are questioning if this was a fluke or can we continue this type of production out of Maclin.
I believe what we saw was not a fluke at all. The reason the Eagles traded up to get this guy is because he is the real deal, and I’m sure they didn’t think he’d fall down the draft board that far. You can’t set the bar that high for any rookie, but I think a lot of people expected big things after the type of year DeSean Jackson had last year.
Jackson is a big reason that Maclin had the type of game he did yesterday. Due to how he’s been playing lately, Jackson was keyed on big time. With all the attention Jackson got, someone else had to step up. Maclin fit this role perfectly. The scary thing is that Maclin is going to get better and better as he gets more comfortable with the system.
When the Eagles drafted Maclin, I was really excited about the potential of the Jackson-Maclin combination. I think after Sunday we saw just how potent they can really be.
