Last week I wrote a post welcoming everyone to Giants week. The Giants have come and gone, and we are now ready to move on to the Dallas Cowboys who we will take on Sunday in the national spotlight.
You know that the Cowboys are going to be fired up in their return to the Linc as last years trip left a bad taste in their mouth. This is the first time the Cowboys will be back in Philly since the Eagles ended their season last year in a remarkable 44-6 victory. The implications are huge here as both teams come in with the same record, but only one will leave as the leader in the NFC East.
Last week, there was a lot at stake. This week, I think there’s even more. Many are saying they think the Cowboys are better than the Eagles at this point, and this is a perfect opportunity for the Birds to prove they’re a contender. With the amount of firepower the Eagles offense has, they should be able to put up the kind of numbers they did against the Giants every week.
Tony Romo is a similar quarterback to Eli Manning in the fact that if you get after him, he gets flustered easily and will make mistakes. The Eagles have been doing a great job getting pressure on the quarterback, and the secondary has taken advantage of some poor throws forced by this. I expect the Eagles defense to play a similar style as they did against the Giants and force Romo to try and beat him. He has played well the last few weeks, but I don’t think he’s seen a defense that can play at the same level as the Birds.
We all know that offensively, we’re going to have to protect Donovan McNabb to give him the opportunity to deliver the ball to all our play makers. With solid protection, this offense can put up points in a hurry. This is going to be a really exciting game with the rematch in January possibly having bigger implications than this game.
