If you haven’t already heard, Donovan McNabb has come out and told the press that Sunday’s game in Chicago is a “must win.” Whenever players make statements like that, they’re going to see a lot of attention. However, I do agree with Donovan on this statement.
Did Donovan have to come out and label this game as a must win? No. Should everyone in the Eagles locker room know that this is a must win without him saying so? Yes.
The Eagles are sitting much prettier then they could be with a 5-4 record as they head out to Chicago for a Sunday night showdown with the Bears. A loss would drop them down to the .500 mark and make a lot of people REALLY start to question them. In terms of their remaining schedule, this is one of the easier games they have left. The Bears are struggling and may just be more inconsistent then our Eagles. Jay Cutler has been a flop since the draft and he got what he wanted moving out of Denver. However, he’s shown everyone that Denver wasn’t the problem, he is. Cutler completed five passes to the opposing team last Thursday against a not so great 49ers squad. I think he will see a much better secondary than he did last week although the depth we have now isn’t spectacular.
Our offense can be very potent and they’re going to need to get something started early and roll behind Donovan’s “must win” mentality. With the Birds and the Boys both losing last week, it allowed the Giants to sit at home on their bye week and effortlessly move a game closer in the division. It’s a three team race right now and the Eagles have to start playing to their full potential. This game is a must win, so come out and show us that Eagles.
