It doesn’t feel good losing to the Cowboys twice in one season. Losing to them three times in one season, and in back to back games would be an absolute embarrassment. However, that is the exact situation the Eagles face this Saturday night with their season on the line.
In the first meeting of the two teams this year, the Eagles lost the game in essentially what you could blame on one play. The second time around was a completely different story and the one that still lingers in all of our minds. Unfortunately, we wish it didn’t. Much like the Eagles, we need to quickly forget about the game and start next week with a clean slate. Each player needs to think on how they can improve from last week’s game then simply go out and do it. Will it be that easy? No, but history is on our side. The Cowboys haven’t won a playoff game in 13 years and the Eagles have never lost a first round playoff game under Andy Reid. Also, the Cowboys are 0-2 in opportunities to beat a team three times in one year.
Is history a good indicator? I hope so, but it’s not something the Eagles should count on. With the way they played last week it’s hard to believe that they could beat anyone in the NFL. However, we know that’s not the true Eagles and I’m sure Dallas knows that too.
People are now calling Dallas the team to beat in the NFC so if the Eagles are ready to prove their a Super Bowl contender, a win on Saturday would definitely be the first step in the right direction. The Eagles put themselves in a tough spot when they lost last week and now have a long way to go if they want to make it to Miami. However, the first stop to Miami goes through Dallas, and I hope the third times is the charm for the Eagles this weekend.
