Throughout the week I’ve been seeing some people say the Eagles don’t have a chance after the way they played last week and some people say it was just an off week for the team. It’s hard to completely dismiss the effort the team put out last week, but it’s hard to believe they could do it again.
We’ve seen the way the Eagles have played down the stretch, and it was much different than the way they played against the Cowboys on Sunday. The Cowboys had a better game plan and the Eagles failed to execute very well. The game reminded me a lot of when the Eagles played the Raiders this year. The defensive effort was better against the Raiders, but I think they saw a lot of the same offensive struggles. With that in mind, I looked back to see how the Eagles played the week after Oakland. This was Week Seven on Monday night against the Redskins. The offense scored within the first two minutes and the defense also found the end zone in the first quarter. At halftime, the Eagles led 27-10 and only gave up one score in the second half with about 90 seconds left in the game.
Sure this isn’t Week Seven, and were not playing the Redskins here, but besides last week I believe the Oakland game was definitely the worst they played all year. However, you see that they were able to bounce back and get things straightened out when they needed to.
No one expected the Eagles to play the way they did last week, and now everyone thinks the Cowboys will dominate again this week. I don’t think that’s true. This team has a big shot at redemption here, and I think they’re going to make the best of it.
