The majority of the article focuses on how he’s an alternate for the Pro Bowl and will be making the trip to Miami since Drew Brees or Brett Favre will be playing in the Super Bowl and he will be taking the open spot. However, McNabb finishes the article by briefly stating the following:
“I know there is a lot of talk in Philadelphia about my future but please know one thing – when I came to Philadelphia it was to win a championship for the Eagles. Given the opportunity, I’d like to finish the job.”
He acknowledges the fact that there are rumors swirling around about how he may have played his last game as an Eagles, but he doesn’t dive into it too deeply. I think this is a good thing because he’s opened his mouth and said the wrong thing enough times in his career. He doesn’t need to hype up the media here and put himself in a position where he has to answer a million questions on what he said. For now though, it seems as though he wants to make a return to Philadelphia. I can’t blame him with the amount of weapons the offense has; however, he has had more than his fair share of “opportunity” to win a championship for the Eagles.
Donovan can say he wants to remain in Philadelphia all he wants, but in the end he may not have the final say.
