Last night was the 2010 Pro Bowl, although the final rosters each team played with had a fair share of question marks. It will be interesting to see if the NFL sticks with the new format after this year.
Looking at the Eagles that participated in the game last night there were two standouts to me: one good, one bad.
DeSean Jackson had a very impressive game. He had six receptions for 101 yards and scored two touchdowns. He was the leading receiver for the NFC and if he would have scored a touchdown on the deep attempt by Tony Romo in the fourth quarter he would have arguably won the game’s MVP award. He didn’t, but still showed everyone that he was very deserving of that spot. His second touchdown came on a little screen pass where he really showed his speed and exploded up the field for a 58 yard touchdown. You can argue that the defense doesn’t play that hard in the Pro Bowl, but I think DeSean really exploded on that play and made some people look bad.
On the other end of the spectrum, there was Donovan McNabb. He completed the fewest attempts out of the six quarterbacks that played in the game and really didn’t make a “hey you should keep me” statement to the Eagles. Nor did he make a “hey you should trade for me” statement to anyone else. It is the Pro Bowl and is just supposed to be about fun but he really looked bad. He threw for 78 yards but 58 of that came on Jackson’s touchdown which was all made possible by DeSean. Donovan threw two interceptions, but one was called back.
It was nice to see DeSean do well, especially since it was his first Pro Bowl. However, seeing Donovan play the way he did only makes you wonder more and more about the future.
What are your thoughts on last night’s Pro Bowl?
