Brian Westbrook was interviewed on Monday and spoke on a variety of different topics.
Like many others, Westbrook was asked to weigh in on the Donovan McNabb situation and whether he believes McNabb will return to the team next season. Much like everyone else, Westbrook said, “there is no question in my mind if Donovan will be back.” I really wouldn’t expect him to say much else, but I think he has developed a pretty strong bond with Donovan over the years. I feel that he truly believes that and didn’t just say it because it’s the right thing to stay. Personally, I think now is the best time to trade Donovan McNabb but as each day passes, I feel more and more that it’s not going to happen.
The most interesting thing that came out of Westbrook’s interview was probably the fact that he admitted he was not fully recovered from his first concussion when he returned to the field. About the issue, he said “What happened to me was that I was not completely healed from the first concussion. Even though I waited that long amount of time and passed all the tests I still wasn’t completely healed…and it came back just like that. After that I had to sit out another five or six weeks just for me to be completely sure that I was 100 percent OK.” This is an interesting development, but I think he can’t blame anyone but himself for getting hurt again. He put himself in that position.
It’s definitely going to see what Brian Westbrook decides on in terms of playing football next year. At the same time, it will be interesting to see what the Eagles do if he does decide he wants to play.
