Stacy Andrews had a disappointing 2009 season to say the least. After being a solid player in Cincinnati, Andrews was brought in to join his brother on the offensive line where the Eagles were definitely in need of help. However, much like younger brother Shawn, Stacy did not live up to the Eagles’ expectations. He struggled to stay healthy and underperformed when he actually saw playing time.
In the offseason, the Eagles gave him the option of either taking a pay cut or being cut. Andrews took the pay cut willingly and knew that he hadn’t been performing at a high enough level to truly earn how much he was being paid.
Coming into the first mini camp for the Eagles, Andrews is happy with where he is at and thinks thinks 2010 will be a much better result for him that the 2009 season. The big question is whether or not that will end up being true.
I do think that Andrews has a lot of talent that we weren’t able to see last season. Andrews will be looking to start at the right guard position and help anchor the center of the Eagles offensive line. There’s no question that this is the biggest concern for the Eagles offense this offseason and having Andrews come back and have a solid 2010 season would be huge.
The Eagles seem to be set with the tackle position right now; the interior line is where all the questions come. We’ll expect to see another good year out of Todd Herremans but there is a big question surrounding the center position and other guard spot.
The play of Stacy Andrews will have a big impact on the success of the Eagles offense.
What are you expecting out of Stacy Andrews this season?
