Week 1 of the NFL is here and we’ve already had one great game! Fifteen more are slated for this weekend and here’s what I believe will happen.
Vikings @ Saints – I picked the Vikings. Needless to say I’m wrong. As always, I start my season out 0-1.
Browns @ Buccaneers – Going with the Browns here. They ended last season with a four game win streak and the starting offense looked decent in the preseason. The Bucs looks awful and I truly believe they are the worst team in football this year. Browns on the road!
Dolphins @ Bills – Oh look! Another terrible team that’s gonna get beat by a team on the road! The Bills have a nice running back in C.J. Spiller but that’s about it. The Dolphins aren’t great but they’re a heck of a lot better than the Bills. The Dolphins will be able to roll them.
Bengals @ Patriots – My first “what on earth are you thinking?!?!?” pick of the year! I’m going with the Bengals. The Patriots defense is banged up and overrated (not a good combination) and they will not be able to keep up with the Bengals aerial assault. Plus that Cincinatti defense is pretty good at getting to the quarterback. The Bengals pass rushers are looking forward to congratulating Brady on his new contract.
Panthers @ Giants – It pains me to say it. It pains me so much. The Giants will win. There, I said it! Carolina is in the middle of a coach who is barely holding onto his job, a quarterback competition, and a lousy defense. Ouch. Gmen will handle the Panthers and open their new home with a win.
Lions @ Bears – Another “what on earth are you thinking?!?!?!?” pick right here. I love what I’m seeing in the Lions this year. They are making all the right moves. Da Bears are doing the inverse. I fully believe Chicago will be holding down last place in the NFC North. The king of the jungle will rein on Sunday!
Falcons @ Steelers – No Big Ben? No problem, we got Leftwich! No Byron Leftwich? Big problem. Dennis Dixon is not ready for this and the Falcons will take advantage of the QB-less Steelers. Tough week for home teams so far.
Raiders @ Titans – At last, another home team will win! The Raiders are headed in the right direction but the Titans are headed there far quicker. VY will begin his retribution journey and take quick care of the black and silver.
Broncos @ Jaguars – The Tim Tebow-ites will be out in full force at Jacksonville just to see their hero warm the bench! What’s sad is that he’ll probably accomplish more on said bench than the entire Broncos starting unit. MJD will have a field day running over that defense. Wait….two home teams in a row winning….what?!?!
Colts @ Texans – Oh good….that home winning streak didn’t last too long. I’m a big believer in Andre the Giant and the Texans but not this week. King Peyton ain’t ready to be dethroned quite yet. Nicknames are fun. Especially lame ones.
Cardinals @ Rams – I can’t figure this darn game out. I really can’t. One one side we have the Cards who have two great WRs, solid RBs, and a good O-line. They just don’t have someone to throw the ball or a good defense. Then we have the Rams….who have a good looking rookie QB with a lousy offensive line and offensive weapons (except that Pro Bowl running back). These guys also have a bad defense. So….who to take? Coin flip says Cards. Cards it is. (I didn’t actually flip a coin. I’m not that careless. I had an octopus make my pick for me)
Packers @ Eagles – If you’ve read my article or listened to the podcast you know the pick. You haven’t read the article or listened to the podcast you say? Well, for shame! What are you waiting for? Go forth!
49ers @ Seahawks – Pete Carrol wants to redeem his name in the NFL. He won’t and here’s a few reasons why…poor O-line, mediocre QB, no WRs, no RBs, and an okay defense. Dang…..really bad for home teams. Really really bad.
Cowboys @ Redskins – Remember how bad the Cowboys made Donovan look in his last two games as an Eagle? Why not make it a perfect three? He’d be better off if that ankle isn’t healthy enough for this game. Cowboys will roll through D.C. and Jerry gets his Papa John’s pizza, courtesy of Dan Synder (cultural reference….youtube it if you’re confused).
Ravens @ Jets – Let me preface this. My girlfriend is a Jets fan. Nobody’s perfect. If you’re reading this babe, I love you but you’re team is gonna get spanked. Darrel Revis can only cover so many guys and the Ravens offense is gonna embarrass that defense. Ray Lewis is gonna have a bit of gospel to whisper into Sanchez’s ear most like as well.
Chargers @ Chiefs – I’ll give you a hint. Chargers. Poor, poor home team.
