Week One is in the books, as is my 7-9 record. See, it’s a personal tradition of mine to always have a suck out loud first week of picks.
Vikings @ Saints – I had picked the Vikings. As previously discussed, I was wrong. Maybe even the great Brett Favre does need training camp. I know, I know….blasphemous. Amazing that both of these teams both just looked lost.
Browns @ Buccaneers – I hitched my cart to the Browns. Not sure why. Oh, right cause they were playing the Bucs. Well, I was wrong. Again. The Bucs had a good comeback capped off by a sweet toss and throw from QB Josh Freeman to Michael Spurlock. Good win by the Bucs.
Dolphins @ Bills – OH MY GOSH I WAS RIGHT. Barely. The Dolphins came in and eeked out a 15-10 win over the lowly Bills. Low scoring offense for the Dolphins but they did an excellent job of shutting down the Bills offense, especially holding rookie RB C.J. Spiller to six yards on seven carries.
Bengals @ Patriots – See, I tried to make a cool upset pick. I wanted to outsmart everyone. I shouldn’t do that. Both offenses looked solid but ultimately the Patriots were able to outdo the Bengals by scoring in all three facets of the game.
Panthers @ Giants – Stupid Giants. They won. Yeah, I got the pick right but I wanted to be wrong! Hakeem Nicks and Eli Manning connected three times for TDs. Three times! Hope you started him in fantasy land. If you did, and you lost, you need to work on picking teams. So, the question now is – How long until Panthers fans start clamoring for Jimmy Clausen? Trick question, the Panthers don’t have fans.
Lions @ Bears – It was the right call. Stupid, stupid rule but the right call. The Bears did a good job of just hanging on but people should be alarmed in Chi-town. Matt Forte will not put up 201 yards every week. For the Lions, it’s a darn shame that A.) That rule is in place that nullified what should been a TD and B.) That starting QB Matt Stafford is hurt. Again. Oh, and NFL…I hope you’re happy. I should be at 8-8 and because of your stupid rule…
Falcons @ Steelers – I like defensive struggles which is why I’m somewhat disappointed I haven’t been able to watch this game in full (yet). Both defenses were dominate through four quarters and then the Falcons D gave out and let up a 50 yard TD run by Rashard Mendenhall in overtime.
Raiders @ Titans – Apparently the Raiders forgot there was a game. In other news, Al Davis has just forgotten where his team plays. And where he keeps his spectacles. And his name. The Raiders got rolled….the Titans were dominate the entire game. Nice to see VY beginning to show why he was a first round draft pick.
Broncos @ Jaguars – Tim Tebow had an impressive two yards on two plays on Sunday against the Jags. Wasn’t good enough. David Garrard on the other hand sliced and diced the Denver secondary for 170 yards and 3 TDs. Not a bad game by the Jags. What’s more impressive, people were around to see it!
Colts @ Texans – IT’S THE END OF TIME!!!!! THE TEXANS HAVE TOPPLED THE COLTS IN A MEANINGFUL GAME!!!! Okay, maybe a bit over the top but it was very impressive the way the Texans man handled the Colts. I loved it. I can’t deny it; I have a soft spot for the Texans. It’s probably because I want Andre Johnson on my team. Great game by the Texans….though I’m not quite ready to name them the future champions of that division….yet.
Cardinals @ Rams – Got this one right, just by the skin of my teeth. What I took from this game….Sam Bradford looks poised…Anderson looks alright at best. It’s funny….if we combined these teams on offense we could have one super team. The NFL should look into that.
Packers @ Eagles – More detailed reviewing come soon. For now….yeah, it sucked. Wish I’d been wrong.
49ers @ Seahawks – This week is really making me look terrible. Genuinely awful. The 49ers got beat like a red headed step child (soul or no soul) by the ‘Hawks. It was embarrassing and now I’m out in all my eliminator pools. I can only imagine the hell that was raining down in the post game locker room of the 9ers. Samurai Mike must have been livid.
Cowboys @ Redskins – Sound the alarm! The Eagles lost and the Washington McNabbs won!!! Give me a break. First off, I’ve never seen two offenses that are supposed to be electric look so mediocre. If it weren’t for that moronic play by the Cowboys the game would’ve been 7-6 Cowboys. Remarkable really. Anyone still doubt that McNabb is on the downside of his career?
Ravens @ Jets – Two great defenses. One great game. Sure, both offenses stuttered and it kinda killed me in fantasy. I don’t care. Both defenses were hard hitting and ferocious. This was old school football….kind of a shame that we won’t have another game like this for a while. Great game. Oh yeah, the Ravens won and I was right.
Chargers @ Chiefs – I’ll give you a hint. I was dead wrong….but at least I know the rest of the world (except the Chiefs homers). The Chiefs had a lackluster day on offense as a whole but the defense brought the heat and the Chiefs did have several huge plays. Philip Rivers looked like a 9 year old.
