I’ve psyched myself up. I’m also on innumerable cold prevention and treatment drugs. Because of this I expect to either have the greatest week of picking games EVER. Or the worst. EVER. Can’t wait to see what happens….here we go!
Bills @ Packers – The Bills are significantly worse than the Eagles in all three sides of the game. The Packers essentially had their way with the Eagles. Plus, the Packers are at home. This week the home teams will start off strong. Packers roll. Bills fans in Canada continue to have hope.
Dolphins @ Vikings – The Vikings offense can’t be that bad. They just can’t be. The Dolphins also didn’t look all that impressive on offense last week. I’m going with the Vikings but the idea of Brandon Marshall against that weak secondary is somewhat scary. Not quite scary enough though. I think it’ll be a great game and the Vikings come out on top. The media resumes drooling over Brett Favre. Hootie cries. 10 points go to whoever gets that reference.
Chiefs @ Browns – One team collapsed late in the game. Another embarrassed a vastly superior team. The Dawg Pound is gonna have slim pickings this year and this game will be the same. I like the Chiefs to go in and beat up on the Browns. Dexter McCluster will rise to the level of a demigod in Kansas City.
Bears @ Cowboys – I think I’m onto something here. When I picked Dallas last week, they lost miserably. I know the score suggested otherwise but Dallas was terrible last week. Da Bears weren’t much better. I’m going with Dallas here just because Chicago is awful. However, I do expect Chicago to have some fun sacking Romo behind that lousy offensive line. At the end of the day, Jerry Jones will get celebratory Botox and Chicago will drown their sorrows in delicious deep dish pizza. Poor guys.
Cardinals @ Falcons – The Falcons looked bad last week. I’m sorry, that’s an insult to the word bad. The Cardinals looked alright last week, though they truly had no running game at all. I can’t believe that the Falcons are as bad as last week suggested (truthfully I believe the Steelers defense is that good) so I’m going with them here. Arizona will head home a loser and try again to coax Kurt Warner out of retirement and Atlanta will do whatever people do to celebrate in Atlanta. I got nothing.
Buccaneers @ Panthers – In theory the Panthers were getting ready for the Bucs during last week’s second half. In theory. I can’t think of anything else to explain why on earth they would forget to play the second half. Maybe they’re just lousy. As for the Bucs, they did a nice job getting the win against the Browns. Very nice. However, I just foresee (apparently now I’m psychic) the Panthers running the ball down their throats. The cannons will be quiet on Sunday. Well, that should be obvious….the game is at Carolina.
Eagles @ Detroit – I got em winning. You can listen to the podcast here!
Ravens @ Bengals – The Bengals got beat in all three facets of the game against the Patriots. The Ravens pummeled the Jets offense into submission and only allowed 6 first downs. The Ravens also never once gave up on the run (EARTH TO ANDY REID) despite the Jets shutting them down. That was a huge part in their win. I see the Ravens doing something very similar to the Bengals, though I’m sure the Bengals will score a few TDs. I think this will be an excellent game and I can’t wait to see TO melting down on the sidelines as his team starts off 0-2.
Steelers @ Titans – A rematch of last year’s season opener. And this outta be a fun one. Will CJ continue his dominance en route to his goal of 2,500 yards? Personally, I doubt it. The Steelers defense is ferocious now that they have Hair and Shoulders back in the secondary. That said, the Titans defense is superior to the Falcons and I expect the Titans to eek out a close win. It’s gonna be fun though.
Seahawks @ Broncos – I don’t think there’s a game I’m looking forward to less this week. I know the Seahawks exploded last week. But I see them as a flash in the pan team that will come screaming back towards earth very quickly. I see the Broncos as one of the most mediocre teams in the league. I’m gonna give it to the Broncos based on home field advantage. Tim Tebow stat line projection – Three plays for three yards. Progress.
Rams @ Raiders – What’s sad is that I am looking forward to this game more than the previous game. I know both teams lost (one very badly) but I still really like the direction both teams are headed. I think this will be a fun game. I’m gonna give it to the Raiders, again based on home field advantage. I might change my mind later in the week though. Stay tuned.
Texans @ Redskins – All offseason I gushed over the Texans. I also talked about how mediocre the Redskins will be. I stand by that 100%. I think the Texans offense will take advantage of the old CBs starting for Washington and the defensive line will eat McNabb alive. Dallas fans begin to panic that the Texans are overtaking Texas. Washington fans begin to see the truth behind McNabb.
Patriots @ Jets – The Jets talk the talk. The Patriots walk the walk. I just don’t see this ending well for the Jets. Luckily for them they aren’t facing a great defense. They are facing a great offense. The Jets have a mediocre offense and a great defense. This game will be fantastic but ultimately the Patriots will come out on top. Bill Belichick still won’t smile. Rex Ryan still won’t stop talking.
Jaguars @ Chargers – I feel terrible for the Jags. Terrible. There is no way the Chargers aren’t coming out of the gates completely infuriated by last week’s happenings. No way at all. I see the Chargers rolling all over the Jaguars. There is good news though. No one in Jacksonville will see it. So maybe no one will notice.
Giants @ Colts (Eli @ Peyton) – Ah, the Manning Bowl Part Deux. The Colts are coming off a very disappointing loss to the Texans. The Giants are coming off a comeback win over the Panthers. I see the fortunes switching for both franchises this weekend. Peyton won’t allow himself to be one upped by his little brother, even if it means throwing for 57 TDs in this game alone. The Colts win at home. Wow, this is a good weekend for the home teams.
Saints @ 49ers – Well, not so good for all home teams. The 49ers looked awful last week. The Saints didn’t look great but at least they could score TDs. I think the Saints will roll over the reeling 49ers and Mike Singletary will be forced to drop the axe (you thought I was going to say “pants” didn’t ya?) on Alex Smith sooner rather than later. The 9es are close to being a very good team….but they just have a lousy QB. Saints win it to finish out the week. The Super Bowl repeat talk begins.
Last week: 7-9
Season so far: 7-9
