I feel like I’m starting to get back into the swing of things. Granted, this past weekend also had a lot of very easy games to pick. There were a few big upsets though.
Titans @ Giants – I remember all the Giants fans that I know laughing at me when I said I really think the Giants will be a lousy team this season. It’s two weeks in a row now that they’ve gotten embarrassed. The biggest indicator moment was Eli’s feeble left handed shovel pass. The Giants are not a good team. At all. Oh, the Titans won.
Bengals @ Panthers – No shockers here except that Carson Palmer didn’t look much better than the opposing rookie QB, Jimmy Clausen. Both QBs played lousy but the Bengals were able to ultimately take care of business. I still struggle to comprehend why people call Palmer an elite QB at the beginning of every season.
Steelers @ Buccaneers – Well, as it turns out it wasn’t all that tough of a game. Pittsburgh dominated. Troy Polamalu has to be in the running for MVP already. That defense is an entirely different animal with him patrolling the secondary. The Bucs looked lost and confused while the Steelers looked very ready. Amazing that this team still doesn’t have big Ben.
Bills @ Patriots – How on earth did the Bills score 30 points? Well, obviously the Patriots defense isn’t all that good. But still, 30 points? That’s amazing for the Bills. Too bad their defense let up 38. The Patriots need to get that defense figured out if they want to sniff winning this division. You can’t do it all on offense.
Browns @ Ravens – A lot tighter than I thought it’d be. Only the 4th time in quite a few years that the Ravens had let up a 100 yards rushing to one player. The offense was able to grind it out however and secure a lead in what ended up being a fun game.
49ers @ Chiefs – So about those 49ers….yeah they’re bad. Meanwhile the Chiefs are just winning football games. The Chiefs dominated from quarter 1 and never looked back. Great win by the Chiefs. I wonder how much trough Mike Singeltary has dropped and will drop. Incredible to think that the 49ers could still easily win this division.
Dallas @ Houston – I’m hindsight I should’ve seen the Cowboys winning. But, I’m an Eagles fan so that sometimes affects my picks. This was one of those weekends. The Texans, after two very emotional wins, looked flat. The Cowboys, after embarrassing defeats looked sharp and determined.
Lions @ Vikings – I think I’m ready to change my Super Bowl prediction. I still like the Ravens to reach the big dance but in no way will their opponent be the Vikings. Sure, they got the win but it was darn ugly. Favre just looks….well, old.
Falcons @ Saints – It sure was a great game but I got the pick wrong. The Saints made a boneheaded decision to not try and pound the ball into the endzone during overtime and it cost them dearly. It also might have cost Garret Hartley a job in the near future. Falcons escape with a win, though it seems somewhat cheap given the Saints poor decision making.
Redskins @ Rams – Oh hey, I was right about the Skins playing flat. They just looked awful. And this was against the Rams?! I figured it’d be ugly but this was just bad. McNabb and company had no chemistry. And personally, I loved it.
Eagles @ Jaguars – The Eagles crushed. If you’re reading this you likely already know this. The defense had 8 sacks and held the Jags to 3 points. Mike Vick looked fantastic on the offense. Solid win, even if it came against a lousy team.
Colts @ Broncos – Peyton Manning was Peyton Manning. The Broncos were the Broncos. What resulted was of no shock at all. Colts came, saw, and conquered. As always.
Raiders @ Cardinals – Remember when the Cardinals were such a great offense and a had a very solid defense? Good times. Shame that Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin, Corlos Dansby, and Antrell Role have all left the building. Still, they eked out the win over the Raiders. It sure wasn’t pretty though.
Chargers @ Seahawks – So this was one of those games in which I couldn’t have been more wrong. At all. Five turnovers for the Chargers. I don’t care who you’re playing, that’s almost impossible to overcome. Amazing that they only lost by a touchdown.
Jets @ Dolphins – What a fantastic game. This really was a great game to watch. I think the Jets offense is officially here. The defense has been here. This team is very dangerous and I’m glad the Eagles don’t face them this season. Great win by the Jets.
Packers @ Bears – It’s hard to win a game when you have 18 penalties. It really is. If I were a Bears fan I’d be truly concerned that my team only won by a few points after the Packers essentially gift wrapped the game.
