When the Eagles picked up Mike Bell, I was very excited. Today, the Eagles traded Mike Bell, and I’m equally as excited. In return for Bell, the Eagles acquired Browns running back Jerome Harrison.
My first thought on the trade is, what a surprise, another trade with Cleveland. Beyond that, it seems like both running backs have disappointed their teams so far this season and it’s time for a change of scenery.
As I mentioned, I thought Bell would be a great addition to the Eagles. We’ve seen the emergence of LeSean McCoy this year and it looked as though Bell would be a very nice compliment to Shady’s style of play. However, Bell was banged up in Training Camp and failed to prove any worth for this team.
I know that Harrison was a guy who was fighting for a starting position in Training Camp and has also fallen off. He has 31 rushes for 91 yards this year. Not the numbers he, nor the Browns, were looking for.
At the surface, it doesn’t look like the trade will have a huge impact as the Eagles haven’t used a secondary running back very often this year. However, hopefully Harrison will come into Philadelphia really wanting to prove something and give us more of an option at the position.
