The Eagles continued to add depth to their offensive line by adding Cincinnatti center Jason Kelce with the 191st overall selection.
Kelce stands at 6’4″ and 290 pounds and is considered to be a very solid center in pass protection. However, the knock on Kelce is that he’s a bit undersized and struggles in run blocking. He’s also been known to be overpowered on the line by bigger defensive tackles.
With Jamaal Jackson being struck by the injury bug the past two seasons, it’s not entirely surprising to see the Eagles bring in a center for some depth. Jackson should be returning this season, but the Eagles are more than likely weary about him staying healthy.
Kelce will definitely have to add some bulk to his frame and work on his technique if he wants to make the roster this season.
The good news is the Eagles now have Howard Mudd who will definitely be able to improve any lineman the Eagles bring in. Kelce has some work to do, but Mudd is definitely the right man for the job.
