Last night at around midnight, Albert Breer finally broke the story. Vince Young is going to be an Eagles today on a one year contract. The signing works perfectly for both sides, especially for Vince Young who must get his career back on track.
Vince Young will now be learning from some of the best quarterback coaches in the game trying to revitalize his career. Maybe by next year’s offseason, he may impress other teams enough for someone to give him a starting job?
For the Eagles, this gives them a chance to let Mike Kafka develop a little more and master the offense. Kafka had some mixed reviews from last year, but it was hard to judge considering he has yet to take an NFL snap.
Darren Sproles has signed with the New Orleans Saints. Some speculation led many to believe that he would sign here, but the Saints offered him something he couldn’t have here, whether it was money or playing time. It’ll be hard for him to get on the field for considering they already have first round pick, Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas, and Chris Ivory.
The Eagles must turn elsewhere at backup running back and nothing has been reported, but some have mentioned Steve Slaton’s name as someone who would fit in nicely. He was drafted by the Texans, and after a solid sophomore season, he dropped off with Arian Foster coming onto the scene.
