The Philadelphia Eagles have solved one of their biggest needs this offseason at back up running back. Ronnie Brown, formerly with the Miami Dolphins has signed a contract of one year.
Brown was a pro bowler in 2008, and his claim to fame was being the primary guy for the Dolphins in the wildcat offense. He has a history of injuries with tearing his ACL in 2007, causing him to miss the whole season and in 2009 he missed seven games with a foot injury. He started all 16 games last year and ran for 734 yards.
He will provide depth in the backfield as well as a short yardage power back. He can catch out of the backfield to add to his resume, catching 33 passes last season.
In other news, Danny Watkins has finally signed his contract. It will be a four year deal. Watkins will meet all day with offensive line coach Howard Mudd, to make up for lost time on the players’ day off.
Jeremy Maclin and Asante Samuel reported to camp. Asante reported on monday where he practiced with the team, and Maclin reported today, but it is still unclear whether he’ll practice. Maclin has been out with an “illness”.

I heard that linebacker Lofa Tatupu is available. He would be a great pickup for the eagles. He’s a several time pro bowler. The eagles don’t have any big name line backers.
