I feel like I’m starting to hit my stride. After an embarrassing week three (6-10), I’ve gone two weeks in a row with a minimum of 11 games called right. Even a league as crazy as the NFL can be figured out. With that said, I’ve likely ensured myself another terrible week.
Let the curse begin. My picks will be in italics.
Steelers @ Titans – Is the Steelers defense back or are the Eagles *that* bad on offense. It might be a combination of both. However, the Pittsburgh D is all banged up again but luckily for them, so is the Tennessee offense. The Titans appear to have WR Kenny Britt back healthy which will make this game far more interesting than it potentially could’ve been. What a weird concept…this game will be interesting because of injuries Well, either way, give me the Steelers.
Raiders @ Falcons – One team has been stuck in reverse for the past few seasons and one is looking tougher and tougher to beat with each week. Yup. This is my slam dunk pick of the week. Lock of the week. Guarantee of the week. Use whatever mixture of verbs, nouns, and adjectives you wish to. Give me the Falcons.
Cowboys @ Ravens – How many ways can the Ravens beat you? How many ways can the Cowboys beat themselves? I dunno the answer to either of those questions but the combination of both sure does make me feel all sorts of warm and fuzzy inside. The Cowboys can look fantastic one week and terrible the next. The Ravens are flat out solid at home. Give me the Ravens.
Bengals @ Browns – Until the Brownies can prove me otherwise, I’m not taking them.
Rams @ Dolphins – Ryan Tannehill is very quietly having himself a nice rookie season. Yes, he’s throwing far too many picks. But he’s racking up the yards and making some really nice throws. This guy can play. Get him some competent receivers and the Dolphins could be a team on the rise. The Rams looked killer last week against the Cardinals but they’re going against a far better offensive line this time around. Give me the Dolphins in a slug fest.
Colts @ Jets – Andrew Luck and the Colts continue fighting for coach Chuck. Is it Tebow time yet? I say, why not? Surely he can’t play worse than Mark, right? Give me the Colts.
Lions @ Eagles – Call it a hunch. Give me the Lions.
Chiefs @ Buccaneers – Hey, at least we don’t cheer when our own players get hurt. The Bucs continue to confuse me but the Chiefs are pretty easy to figure out. I mean, other than the fact that they held the Ravens to 9 points. What? Oi vey. This season. Give me the Bus.
Bills @ Cardinals – The nine sacks allowed by the Cardinals last week must make Mario Williams & Co. salivate. No dice. The Cardinals rebound this week against a Buffalo team that continues to puzzle. Give me the Cardinals.
Patriots @ Seahawks – Upset special of the week. Seattle is a tough place to play no matter what and the Seahawks have a mean defense. Yes, I’m likely crazy for calling this. But hey. Give me the Seahawks.
Giants @ 49ers – Game of the week right here. And I’m gonna be in a car. Hurrah. The 49ers have, one the whole, played far better this year than the Giants. If this were a late season game I’d be tempted to go with New York. But, early in the season? Give me the 49ers.
Vikings @ Redskins – How RG3 is going to play in this game is beyond me. Guess the concussion wasn’t as bad as it was feared. But the Redskins clearly still have many issues (like keeping Mr. 3 upright….sound familiar?) and the Vikings are a team headed in the right directions. Give me the Vikings.
Packers @ Texans – I really don’t have much to offer here. The Texans are one of the top teams in the league and the Packers should be but they just aren’t. The Texans had some issues last week dealing with the Jets and now they have to go against a far better team…though they are at home. RELATED: Andre Johnson is officially milk carton status. Give me the Packers.
Broncos @ Chargers – Peyton VS. Phillip. Yipee. This should be a fun game. The Chargers have surprised me this year in the fact that they’ve actually been able to win games and the Broncos have surprised me in the opposite sense. However, something tells me that the Broncos run is about to begin. Give me the Broncos.
