As acting ambassador to Eagles fans everywhere, I am officially labeling this season a success. Ten wins and a division title. Not only that but we walked into the enemies house with the whole season on the line, sat down at their table, ate their lunch, hit on their wife and made them watch, then clean the table afterwards. Total power move.
That being said now it’s a whole new season and the Eagles face a tough opponent in the New Orleans Saints and there are five things that are going to
keep me up at night require me to drink to go to bed.
1. Drew Brees
Breesus is a future first ballot hall of fame quarterback. He’s thrown for more yards this year than the year he won the Super Bowl. He’s going to be looking at five wide receiver sets all game against a pass defense that Tim Tebow could have a day against. And he’ll be throwing to…
2. Jimmy Graham
Jimmy Graham the most dominate tight end in the game ever… no one tell Ditka I said that. Graham is leading the NFL in two extremely important categories: receiving touchdowns and field goal posts bent. He’s strong, fast, and by my estimations at least five feet taller than our d’backs.
3. Passing to the RBs
If we manage to slow the air raid that is the Saints offense, Brees always manages to get something going with his pass attack to the running backs. The Saints have a good amount of weapons and every player on the field must be accounted for.
4. The Saints have the 4th best defense in the league?!?!?
5. The Old Philadelphia Complex
It’s the Philly’s fan ideology that things will go wrong because they always have and they always will. Maybe its because we’ve been hurt so many times, maybe it’s so we can protect our feelings. Constantly pessimistic just waiting for your franchise player to vomit on the field in the middle of the only Super Bowl you’ve been to.
It’s going to be a hard fought game, but I think the Birds pull it out in a close victory.
