After weeks of speculation, the Eagles announced Friday that they’ve parted ways with receiver DeSean Jackson. According to the Eagles, they informed Jackson of their decision to release him after “careful consideration.”
The announcement came soon after a chilling NJ.com report stated that the Eagles were concerned with “Jackson’s continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members who have been connected to two homicides since 2010.” – via CBS Sports
And finally the Jaccpocalypse of 2014 comes to an end, at least now he will have more time for his rap label. I really still, at this moment, do not understand it fully. In all fairness last time I checked this was America and it’s innocent until proven guilty; or guilty but get someone else to take the fall, start thanking god for everything, and ESPN gives you an analyst position.
DeSean hijacking my Instagram feed is the only crime I can accuse him of. It’s not like he physically attacked a defenseless woman and drug her out of an elevator caveman style, but where there’s smoke there’s some shady related gang shootings.
There must be more to the story that has yet to come out. It seems like the Eagles did everything they could to move him but it appears most suitors were able to smell the desperation. Now that it’s over we will just have wait to see what comes out and hope he either ends up in jail or the AFC.
Now that being said, I may be in the minority but I think we’ll be just fine without him. I’m going to hold a track meet and whoever can run a 4.3ish can take his spot on the Eagles running fly patterns all game.
And guess what the odds are that he will be taller than 5’9”, won’t be afraid to go over the middle, or won’t do this.
DeSean was a good player but he is a one trick pony who doesn’t really score inside the 20, and he was probably over paid. I know I wasn’t the only one who wanted to strangle him through the TV minutes after we lost a hard fought playoff game and he’s already asking for more money.
Eating the $4 million in cap space is unfortunate but the Eagles are well clear of the cap and it shouldn’t be a concern. With this occurrence, it leaves us shaky at wide receiver to say the least so you can bet Chipper will be taking a swing at a top wide receiver in the draft, or its going to be double TE pro sets with Shady and Sprinkles in the backfield.
The moral of the story is that the Eagles think its ok for players to call people racial epithets, but they won’t stand for it when players front like a racial epithet.
